SCSU Undergraduate Research Observatory



Telescopes: Meade LX200 16-inch and 10-inch reflectors (both f/10).

Detectors: Apogee AP-7, SBIG ST-8, SBIG ST-6 CCD with filterwheel and ST-4 CCD.

Filters: UBVRI Johnson-Cousins; Stromgren, and R,G,B.

Spectrometers: SBIG ST-8 w/spectrometer. Fiber optic spectrometer from Rutgers University (5 - 10 Angstrom resolution).

Observatory Building: The observatory is a "roll-off" roof design and is on the top of the Math and Science building on the SCSU campus. A "warm room" is equipped downstairs for obtaining data remotely.

Computing Facilities: Two pc's with Linux operating system, one pc's with Windows, and a laptop computer with Linux/Windows, all networked. Students can also use two more pc's with Linux operating system in the Physics and Astronomy Department Computing Lab.

Software: MaximDL, CCDOPS and Epoch 2000 for data acquisition, IRAF and IDL for data analysis.
